I’m back in my office after hosting the ‘Good Egg’ Awards, which are put on every year by animal welfare group Compassion In World Farming. They basically seek to reward those companies who are making real progress towards phasing out eggs from battery hens, and promoting the trade in free range eggs.
On a different matter entirely, I’ve just registered my support for Campaign Against Arms Trade’s call for Gordon Brown to reopen the legal case against BAE Systems, folllowing a court ruling which heavily criticised the fact it had been closed down in the first place. No company should be immune from corruption investigations, and no government should allow threats from another country (in this case Saudi Arabia) to affect its commitment to transparency and justice.
