There’s a plenary debate in the Strasbourg Parliament tomorrow, in which I’ll be addressing fellow MEPs on the issue of Palestinians being held in Israeli jails. There are currently over 10,000 Palestinians in Israel’s jails, including 44 members of the Palestinian Legislative Council. Many are held without trial. I’ll only get a minute to speak in the plenary, but it should be enough time to make the point that the European Council and Commission have so far failed to challenge the Israeli government over its continued abuses of Palestinian human rights.
