The photos have just come in from a meeting I attended last week with the European Commissioner for the Environment, Stavros Dimas - see below. The meeting had been called to discuss the UK government’s expansion plans for Heathrow and how they are essentially incompatible with EU targets on air quality. The government has no action plan on how to achieve its targets under the EU Air Quality Directive to make our air cleaner, and looks likely to ask for a derogation (delay) on the targets to allow more time to get its act together.
