The campaign to stop Veolia Ltd building an incinerator at Newhaven continues and I am still questioning whether the waste authorities have breached European law. The European Commission has advised that regulations on state aid do not appear to have been broken but have not fully addressed my concerns about public participation and financial transparency. I have asked the Commission to look into these specific issues as a matter of urgency, because work has already started on site.
