I managed to escape phone and email for a short time over the summer recess but am now drowning in the messages and paper work that have accumulated whilst the Brussels office was closed. The proposed development of a massive industrial park called China Gateway in Thanet, Kent has required immediate attention, as have the ongoing human rights infringements suffered by a constituent who, despite never facing any charges, has been labelled by the Home Office as a terrorist. He is living under house arrest, is denied access to a mobile phone or the internet and just yesterday learned that his request to pray at the mosque during Ramadan had been turned down. He would be treated better as a prisoner yet this man has never been found guilty of anything.
