An MEP’s diary is partly determined by the timetable of the European Parliament. Each month MEPs have, on average:
- slightly more than a week to do committee work (Caroline sits on the Trade and Environment committees);
- slightly more than a week to work with the parliamentary ‘group’ which they vote with (as a Green MEP, Caroline is part of the Green/EFA Group);
- slightly more than a week in which they move from Brussels to Strasbourg to vote on legislation.
A small amount of time is designated by the Parliamentary timetable specifically for constituency work, but Caroline attends events in the South East of England far more frequently than this. To download a copy of the official European Parliament timetable for 2008 click here.
